Benton Papaya-D Sun Cream

Hey guys! If you normally read my blog but don’t watch my YouTube videos or follow me on Instagram you may not know about my love for sunscreen. I have found sunscreens I love, sunscreens I hate, and sunscreens I think are okay, but I keep wanting to try new ones.  I’m not sure why, but since I enjoy this so much I was incredibly excited to receive an email saying I would get to try Benton’s new sunscreen for free to review it for them! So this post is my review and I’ll be including some information provided by the brand.

Here is the cute sunscreen packaging:

It came in a white box with green accents and the tube matches with a silver cap.  I always enjoy when product packaging looks nice so this definitely is a plus for me!  Personally I don’t do much research into ingredients, but the brand sent some information along on that so I will include it here…

Ingredients: Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water(55%), Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Pentylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Stearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Panthenol, Carica Papaya Seed Oil(5000ppm), Glyceryl Caprylate, Stearic Acid, Water, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract(750ppm), Tocopherol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Papain(100ppm), Propanediol, Adenosine, Sodium Gluconate, Disodium Adenosine Triphosphate, Algin, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Bud Extract, Glucose, Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Oil

As I said, I don’t do much research into ingredients, but if you’re looking for that others who received this product have gone more into depth on the ingredients. I also have seen many reviews with people who go through http://www.cosdna.com to analyze ingredient safety if you’re into that. However! I have more information from Benton about the ingredients.  They state that the papaya fruit water and papaya seed oil used in the sunscreen makes it rich in vitamins and contains polyphenols, minerals, and papain that are meant to keep the skin smooth and retain moisture as well as controlling sebum and dead skin cells. When I go to cosdna.com I don’t see any information on the papaya fruit water as it relates to irritating skin or safety, but I didn’t see any issues with my skin after using this sunscreen so for me it hasn’t caused any problems.

According to Benton, this product is recommended for skin exposed to various UVs, dull skin lacking suppleness, someone wanting a moist sunscreen, for protection against UVA and UVB rays, and someone wanting a sunscreen with a minimal white cast. It is meant to protect skin and help your complexion as well.

My thoughts: This sunscreen is definitely moist.  I actually loved how it made my skin look, however I definitely think if you have oily skin then you will probably look greasy.  I wore this sunscreen both with and without makeup, and it worked great either way.  For my skin tone I didn’t have any issues with white cast, however I do think that someone with a darker skin tone will have a white cast.  The picture below shows the sunscreen on my hand straight from the tube on the left side and rubbed in on the right side of my hand.

I enjoy how this sunscreen smells fruity, and just generally enjoy using it.  I did wear this on a day I went to the gym, and I was sweating more than I normally would have which I think may be because of this sunscreen. For me personally I think this sunscreen will be really good to use on colder days, but I don’t think I’m going to be wearing it to the gym on hot days anymore! I do think I prefer a sunscreen that is SPF50 and this sunscreen is only SPF38, but I don’t mind it on days when I’m just doing normal work activities and not spending large amounts of time outside. I think this might be the only sunscreen I have that has physical and chemical components, which makes me feel extra protected.

Finally here is me with just the sunscreen on my face:

What do you think? Anyone else love sunscreen too?

Apologies

Hi everyone who is reading this… I just wanted to send out an apology to you all for being so silent over the last five weeks or so.  I am going to finish out my lipstick challenge on here over the next few days, but all the videos are up on my youtube if you want to go watch them!

I have some reviews of sheet masks to post as well and will try to get caught up on some book reviews (but I have also been posting videos of books I’ve read with mini reviews).

In June I did go on a no-buy for makeup and I didn’t buy anything new.  I didn’t buy much skincare during June, but I did buy some things… My goal here was just not to add too many new items to my collection. For me personally, when buying skincare items I do feel that I can buy items and get through them however makeup is a longer lasting item that will be harder for me to get through.  So that is why I was a bit more lenient with buying skincare vs. makeup. (I bought a Vitamin C serum, and my old one did run out a week later, and I bought the Stratia Liquid Gold in case you were wondering!)

Anyway, that is my little update and apology as well as my hope to post more consistently once again! Thanks for stopping by.
